Key findings
- MT4 and MT5 coexist universally. All 21 of 21 audited brokers offer both MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5. Brokers are adding MT5, not removing MT4 — the two run side by side.
- TradingView is the fastest-rising challenger. 33% (7 of 21) now offer a TradingView integration — the most notable platform addition of recent years, but still a minority.
- cTrader stays niche. 24% (5 of 21) offer cTrader, concentrated among ECN/scalping-focused brokers.
- The barrier to entry is low. The median minimum deposit is $10; 11 of 21 brokers let you start with $10 or less, and 4 require no minimum at all.
- The MT4 ecosystem is mostly well-regulated. The most common regulators were CySEC (14), FCA (11), ASIC (10), and FSCA (10) — most audited brokers hold multiple established licences.

Why it matters
For traders weighing "should I still learn MT4 in 2026?", the practical answer is yes: the platform is actively maintained and effectively every major broker still supports it. The smart move is to choose a broker that offers both MT4 and MT5 so you can switch without changing broker — see our MT4 vs MT5 comparison and the best MT4 brokers. The "MT4 is dying" narrative isn't supported by what brokers actually offer.
Methodology
We selected 21 leading retail forex brokers that support MetaTrader 4 and recorded, per broker, which platforms they offer (MT4, MT5, cTrader, TradingView, TickTrader), their regulatory licences, and their advertised minimum deposit, from public broker information as of June 2026.
Because the sample was chosen from brokers that offer MT4, "100% offer MT4" reflects the selection, not the whole market. The meaningful findings are the co-adoption rates (which other platforms these MT4 brokers also run) and accessibility (minimum deposits). Figures are a point-in-time snapshot; broker offerings change, so verify current details before acting. This is informational research, not financial advice.

Frequently asked questions
Is MT4 dead or dying?
No. In our June 2026 audit of 21 leading retail forex brokers, all 21 still offered MetaTrader 4 — and all 21 offered MetaTrader 5 alongside it. MT4 hasn't been replaced; it's been joined. The platform is also still actively maintained.
Is MT5 replacing MT4?
Not in practice. Every audited broker that offers MT4 also offers MT5, so brokers are adding MT5 rather than dropping MT4. The two run side by side, which is why we suggest choosing a broker that offers both.
How many brokers offer TradingView or cTrader?
Among the 21 brokers we audited, 33% (7 of 21) offered a TradingView integration and 24% (5 of 21) offered cTrader. Both are growing but remain a minority next to the universal MT4/MT5 pairing.
How accessible is MT4 trading?
Very. The median minimum deposit across the sample was $10; 11 of 21 brokers let you start with $10 or less, and 4 require no minimum at all. The deposit range was $0 to $200.
