To add indicators on MT4 mobile, open a chart in the app, tap the indicators icon at the top — the
f(x) (“f”) button — choose Main Window or Indicator Window,
then pick a built-in indicator such as Moving Average, Bollinger Bands, RSI or MACD and set its parameters. The MT4
Android and iOS apps include the standard indicators only; for custom indicators you need the desktop terminal. Here's
each tap.
How to add indicators on MT4 mobile, step by step
-
Open a chart
In the MT4 mobile app, open the Charts tab (or tap a symbol in Quotes and choose to view its chart) so you have a chart on screen.
-
Tap the indicators icon
Tap the indicators icon at the top of the chart — the
f(x)("f") button. This opens the Indicators list. [screenshot: f(x) indicators button on the mobile chart] -
Choose Main Window or Indicator Window
Tap to add an indicator, then choose where it draws: Main Window (plots over price, e.g. Moving Average or Bollinger Bands) or Indicator Window (a separate sub-window, e.g. RSI or MACD).
-
Pick a built-in indicator
Select a built-in indicator — Moving Average, Bollinger Bands, RSI, MACD, Stochastic and the other standard MT4 indicators are all included.
-
Set its parameters and confirm
Adjust the parameters (period, applied price, levels, colours) or keep the defaults, then confirm. The indicator appears on the chart straight away.
How to edit or remove an indicator
Tap the f(x) icon again to reopen the Indicators list, then tap the
indicator's name to edit its parameters or to delete it. Removing an indicator only changes what's drawn on
your chart — it has no effect on any open positions or pending orders. The same applies whether the indicator sits in
the Main Window or its own Indicator Window.
Custom indicators: desktop only
This is the one thing to know up front: the MT4 mobile app supports only the built-in indicators. You
cannot load custom .ex4 or .mq4 files on Android or iOS — there is no
data folder to drop files into on mobile. Custom indicators are a desktop-only feature. If you need a custom indicator,
install it on the Windows terminal instead: see how to install indicators
on MT4 (the desktop + custom-indicator guide). That page covers the MQL4/Indicators folder and the
Navigator; this page is the mobile, built-in flow — they're deliberately different.
The built-in indicators in the MT4 app are analysis tools that describe past and current price; they are not buy/sell signals, guarantees, or financial advice, and no indicator is right every time. Treat any indicator as one input among several, always trade with a stop loss, and try a new setup on a demo first. Trading is high-risk and most retail traders lose money.
Practise with indicators on a demo first
Open a free MT4 demo, install the app on your phone, and practise adding indicators with virtual money before you trade real funds.

Frequently asked questions
How do I add indicators on MT4 mobile?
Open a chart in the MT4 app, tap the indicators icon at the top of the chart (the f(x) / "f" button), tap to add an indicator, choose Main Window or Indicator Window, then pick a built-in indicator such as Moving Average, Bollinger Bands, RSI or MACD and set its parameters.
Where is the indicators button in the MT4 app?
It's the f(x) ("f") icon along the top of the chart screen. Tapping it opens the Indicators list, where you add a built-in indicator and choose whether it draws in the Main Window over price or in a separate Indicator Window below the chart.
Can I add custom indicators on MT4 mobile?
No. The MT4 Android and iOS apps include only the standard built-in indicators — they cannot load custom .ex4 or .mq4 files. Adding custom indicators needs the Windows desktop terminal. See our guide to installing indicators on MT4 desktop.
How do I remove or edit an indicator on MT4 mobile?
Open the Indicators list from the f(x) button and tap the indicator's name. From there you can edit its parameters or delete it. Removing an indicator only changes your chart; it does not affect any open trades.
Which indicators come with the MT4 mobile app?
The same standard MT4 set — including Moving Average, Bollinger Bands, RSI, MACD, Stochastic, ADX, CCI and the other built-ins. They are analysis tools, not buy/sell signals, and no indicator is right every time. Most retail traders lose money.
Trading foreign exchange and contracts for difference (CFDs) carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. Leverage can work against you as well as for you.
